Jealous Husband Jailed for Brutal Murder After Forcing Estranged Wife to Swallow Wedding Ring

Savage Attack in Family Home

Shaun Dyson, 28, has been locked up for life with a minimum 17-year term after violently murdering his estranged wife, Lucy-Anne Rushton, 30. The chilling attack happened at their Hampshire home on 23 June. Dyson ordered Lucy-Anne to swallow her wedding ring during the deadly assault, which took place in front of their children.

Toxic Relationship Ends in Tragedy

The couple, married in Gretna Green in 2010, had a volatile and toxic relationship. Judge Akhlaq Choudhury QC blasted Dyson’s “jealous, controlling and violent nature,” exposing his double standards as he secretly had an affair while forbidding Lucy-Anne other men. During the rampage, he repeatedly stamped on her while she lay helpless and half-naked.

Horrific Injuries and Heartbreak

A post-mortem revealed Lucy-Anne suffered 37 broken ribs, a shattered breastbone, and collapsed lungs after the savage beating. Prosecutor Simon Jones told the court a child in the house heard Dyson tell Lucy-Anne to “swallow the ring because we’re not together any more.” The ring was later found on the stairs, meaning she never swallowed it.

Family Devastated by Loss

In a tearful victim impact statement, Lucy-Anne’s mother slammed Dyson for destroying their family. “He has ruined her children’s lives forever. They no longer have a mum to watch them grow up or be there when they need her.” Dyson made a cold 999 call, then vanished for 10 hours, claiming Lucy-Anne had drowned after he threw water on her to wake her up.

This brutal murder has shocked the community, highlighting the deadly consequences of jealousy and domestic violence.
