Man Jailed for Brutal Assaults on Leeds Police Officers
Simon Carlin, 37, from Morris Lane, was locked up for two years at Leeds Crown Court yesterday (December 22) after pleading guilty to attacking two police officers during an arrest – plus a string of other crimes including harassment.
Shocking Assault on Police
Carlin was arrested on November 8 following a theft at a Kirkstall retail store. During the arrest, he violently assaulted two officers, one of whom was spat at.
Swift Justice Served
He pleaded guilty to theft, double counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and harassment offences. The court wasted no time, sentencing him just weeks after the incidents.
Police Vow Zero Tolerance on Attacks
Chief Inspector Andy Loftus said: “We welcome the custodial sentence given to Carlin… assaults on emergency services staff will not be tolerated by the police or courts.”
“Our force is totally committed to protecting all emergency workers and will prosecute attackers to the fullest extent of the law.”
This sentence sends a clear message: attack police, and you’ll face serious jail time.
