Brutal Knife Attacker Jailed for Life in Leicester

Carlos Racitalal, 33, was slammed with four life sentences yesterday after a nine-day trial at Leicester Crown Court. Found guilty of multiple stabbings and possession of bladed weapons, Racitalal faces a minimum of 22 years and six months behind bars.

Police Praise After Dramatic Arrest

The court applauded police efforts in cracking the case, with Mr Justice Linden saying, “The thorough and prompt police work, especially the CCTV analysis, was crucial. Without it, Racitalal might still be on the streets.”

The investigation linked Racitalal to a terrifying series of attacks in Leicester during January, affecting vulnerable victims ranging from a 5-year-old girl to an elderly man in his 70s.

Shocking Attacks Across Leicester

  • A 10-year-old boy was viciously stabbed in the neck while saving a parking space for his mum on Belper Street.
  • A woman in her 30s was slashed on Doncaster Road while walking with children; the attacker fled with a yellow-handled knife.
  • An elderly man was attacked on Dean Road, suffering wounds to his head and hand.
  • A 5-year-old girl was hit by a car in Exploration Drive before the driver sped off.

All victims required hospital treatment but have since been discharged.

Hunt Ends With Suspect’s Arrest

Police released CCTV images on 20 January, leading Racitalal to identify himself at Mansfield House police station hours later. At arrest, he carried a rucksack spotted in the CCTV footage. Subsequent house searches uncovered a large kitchen knife wrapped in a pillowcase and a yellow-handled Stanley-style knife.

Detective Inspector Speaks Out on ‘Dangerous’ Offender

“Racitalal is an extremely dangerous man with no remorse,” said Detective Inspector Tim Lindley. “He attacked victims from children to the elderly with knives and even a car, then fled the scene. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to link the incidents and bring him to justice.”

“We thank the victims for their bravery during this traumatic ordeal and hope this verdict aids their healing.”

Racitalal has been remanded in custody and awaits sentencing tomorrow at the same court.
