Chilling Walk-In Confession

On Sunday, 13 May, Butt calmly arrived at Hayes police station around 1pm. Without a blink, he told officers, “I came here to confess that I have strangled my mother.” Officers rushed to the family home in Gade Close, where Butt and his 71-year-old mum, Onees Khatoon, lived together. They found her dead at the scene.

Horrific Details Emerge

Detectives launched a full-scale murder probe. Butt admitted under caution to strangling his mum with an electrical cable after a heated row. The post-mortem confirmed she died from asphyxia and neck compression. Butt claimed his mum threatened to kick him out, sparking the deadly clash.

Detective’s Tribute to Victim and Officers

“This is a tragic case for everyone connected with the family. Onees had serious health problems and limited mobility. Distressingly, the person she raised and cared for turned on her with fatal consequences,” said Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh.

“She was powerless to defend herself. I pay tribute to the officers who swiftly attended the scene and to the family grappling with this terrible loss.”
