Paedophile Andrew Nicholls Jailed for 17-and-a-Half Years After Savage Abuse of Girl Starting at Age 11
Monster’s Horrific Crimes Spanned Three Years
Andrew Brian Nicholls, 46, was convicted last month of 14 horrific sex offences committed between 2014 and 2017. His abuse began when his victim was only 11 years old. It all started after the girl caught Nicholls watching porn. From there, the abuse escalated into repeated rapes.
In early 2017, the brave girl finally reported Nicholls to Northamptonshire Police. He was arrested and charged with multiple rapes, sexual activity with a child, and taking indecent photos.
Judge Slams Nicholls for Robbing Childhood
On October 4, a jury at Northampton Crown Court found Nicholls guilty on all counts. Today, November 2, Judge Rupert Mayo handed down a savage sentence:
- 13 concurrent sentences ranging from 3 to 14-and-a-half years
- One consecutive sentence of 3 years
- In total, 17-and-a-half years behind bars
Passing sentence, Judge Mayo addressed Nicholls directly: “You robbed your victim of a happy and innocent childhood, forcing her to live in fear of you revealing videos of your vile attacks.” The judge added Nicholls continued abusing despite knowing the girl had become withdrawn and even encouraged others to turn against her after she reported him.
“This was sustained abuse of a particularly vulnerable victim,” the judge concluded.
Monster to Face Lifetime Restrictions
Upon release, Nicholls will be on licence and subject to a sexual harm prevention order. He is indefinitely banned from living with or staying alone with any female under 16 without social services and the child’s parents knowing his full record.
He will also remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“I am thrilled with this sentence, which reflects the severity of the ordeal Nicholls subjected his victim to over many years,” said Detective Constable Chris Waterfall of the Child Protection Team.
“He abused a position of trust and threatened her to keep quiet. When she found the courage to speak out, Nicholls spread lies that caused further suffering. Those who believed those lies should be ashamed.
“My final words are to the victim, who faced a living nightmare yet stood strong in court. Her bravery has brought justice. I hope this sentence helps her find a brighter future.”
