Paedophile Andrew Nicholls Jailed for 17½ Years Over Horrific Child Abuse
Andrew Brian Nicholls, 46, has been locked up for 17-and-a-half years after being found guilty of 14 terrifying sex offences against a young girl between 2014 and 2017. The abuse began when the victim was just 11.
Abuse Started After Victim Walked In On Nicholls Watching Porn
The vile attacks started when the girl caught Nicholls watching pornography. What followed were repeated rapes and devious abuse that left the child traumatised and terrified. The victim finally found the courage to speak out to Northamptonshire Police in early 2017.
Judge Lashes Out at ‘Vile Predator’ Who Stole Innocence
Nicholls, formerly from Camp Hill, Bugbrooke, Northampton, faced multiple charges including rape, sexual activity with a child, and taking indecent photos. On October 4, a jury at Northampton Crown Court found him guilty on all counts.
On November 2, Judge Rupert Mayo sentenced Nicholls to 13 concurrent terms ranging from three to 14-and-a-half years, plus an extra consecutive three-year sentence, totalling 17½ years behind bars.
“You robbed your victim of a happy, innocent childhood,” said Judge Mayo. “You forced her to live in fear of you sharing your vile videos. Even as she withdrew emotionally, you continued to use her to satisfy your paedophilic urges.”
The judge also slammed Nicholls for encouraging others to bully the victim once she went to the police, calling the abuse “sustained” against “a particularly vulnerable victim.”
Life on the Sex Offenders Register and Strict Restrictions on Release
Upon release, Nicholls will remain on licence and subject to a sexual harm prevention order. He’s banned indefinitely from living with or staying near any female child under 16 without social services and a parent or guardian’s consent. Nicholls will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Constable Chris Waterfall, from the Child Protection Team, praised the sentence:
“I’m thrilled this judgement reflects the horrific ordeal Nicholls inflicted over many years. He abused a position of trust, threatened his victim into silence, and spread lies to turn others against her.”
“My final words are for the brave victim. She endured a nightmare but found the strength to speak out in court. Her courage has brought justice and I hope this sentence helps her move toward a brighter future with her head held high.”
