Man Arrested Over Shocking Child Comments in Ashford
Kent Police acted fast after reports surfaced of a man making inappropriate remarks to children along Ashford Road in the town. The incidents occurred on Friday 3 and Monday 6 November 2023.
Joseph Kemp Charged Following Arrest
Following a probe by the East Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team, 33-year-old Joseph Kemp from Tenterden Road, Cranbrook, was arrested on Tuesday 7 November. He now faces serious charges: two counts of attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Court Appearance and Ongoing Investigation
Kemp appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 9 November. He was remanded in custody and is due back at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 11 December. Police say the investigation is far from over and urge anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the Ashford Road area on 2, 3, or 6 November to come forward immediately.
