Roof Raid! Tiles and Lead Stolen from Village School
Between 8 and 17 August 2021, thieves ripped tiles and lead flashing off the roof of Bobbing Village School. Police caught 25-year-old Jimmy Smith, from Juno Road, Sittingbourne, and he faced Maidstone Crown Court on 5 December 2022.
Smith Pleads Guilty to Theft and Burglary
Smith admitted stealing the roof materials, pleading guilty to theft and burglary charges. But he denied causing any criminal damage to the school during the raid.
More Charges Ahead as Trial Set for April
Smith also faces four other theft-related charges, which he denies. The court granted him bail, with a full trial scheduled for April 2023.
