Deadly Crash on M6 Sparks Police Action

A highways worker lost his life in a tragic crash on the M6 early Saturday morning (26 February). Police were trying to stop an Audi suspected of being involved in an earlier incident in the West Midlands. The chase unfolded just after 5am on the northbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 15.

Audi Slams Into Stationary Vehicle

The Audi collided with a stationary traffic management vehicle. The driver, a man in his 50s and the only occupant of the parked vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His family are now being supported by specially trained officers during this heartbreaking time.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Denis Balaz, 27, with no fixed address, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Balaz is set to appear before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (28 February).
