Isaac Mabwa, 33, from Ealing, was found guilty of kidnapping and false imprisonment at Harrow Crown Court on Tuesday, 24 August. He was cleared of sexual assault charges.
Victim Tricked Into Car Then Held for Nearly Two Hours
On 8 May 2017, Mabwa, driving a hire car in central London, offered a 25-year-old woman a lift after a night out. Thinking it was a legitimate taxi, she got in – only to realise Mabwa was heading miles away from her home.
The woman tried repeatedly to escape during the 90-minute ordeal, but Mabwa stopped her every time. Desperately, she messaged her boyfriend and friend with her location.

The car eventually stopped in a dark car park where the victim shouted for help. A passerby heard her screams and called the police. She broke free, and Mabwa fled but was arrested shortly after.
Police Praise Victim and Urge Others to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Brien said: “This case shows the relentless work by our officers to catch violent offenders like Mabwa. We want anyone suffering sexual crimes to come forward — you’ll be supported every step of the way.”
Mabwa remains in custody ahead of sentencing, with the date yet to be set.
