Dangerous Child Sex Offender Sentenced to Four Years Eight Months
James William, 34, who has no fixed address, was sentenced for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a boy under 13. He also breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Guilty Plea and Court Hearing
William pleaded guilty at a hearing on 20 February 2024. The court heard the attack took place in August 2022.
Investigation and Police Statement
Detective Constable Chloe King, from Cumberland CID, led the investigation. She described William as a “dangerous offender” now behind bars.
“This was a terrifying incident for the victim and his family, and I hope today’s sentence brings them some closure,” DC King said.
“I would like to reassure our communities that incidents of this nature are extremely rare.”
Sentence Details
William must serve a minimum of four years and eight months before being considered for release.
