A six-year-old boy was seriously hurt after a hit-and-run crash on a Bristol street.
Child Hurt in Motorcycle Collision
The youngster was struck by a motorcycle on Wade Street, Bristol, around 6pm on Saturday 28 January. The injuries were described as significant.
Rider Flees but Caught Later
The motorbike rider sped off without stopping. Police arrested Ellis Smith, 21, from St George, Bristol, later that same evening.
Two Years and Four Months Behind Bars
Smith was sentenced to a total of two years and four months in jail. The court heard that the crash happened in a 20mph zone, a speed limit designed to keep people safe.
“No parent should have to go through what we have been through. Speed limits are there for a reason. This was a 20mph zone and his actions have caused significant injuries to our son. It is unforgivable. We would like to thank the police for their hard work.”
