Speeding Disqualified Driver Jailed for Endangering Passengers on M4
Sasho Yankov, 44, from Mountain Ash, was slapped with a three-month jail sentence last Monday at Swindon Magistrates’ Court. The charges? Driving at reckless speeds, carrying passengers dangerously, driving while disqualified, and running without insurance.
Speeds of 103mph with Six Unbelted Passengers
On August 27, 2022, around 2:30am, Yankov was caught tearing down the M4 between junctions 15 and 16 at a terrifying 103mph in a black Audi A4. Police stopped him and found six passengers inside. None were wearing seatbelts. Shockingly, a girl of about six was unrestrained, sitting on the front passenger’s lap.
Disqualified, Uninsured, and Putting Lives at Risk
Further checks revealed Yankov was driving under a ban and had no insurance for the vehicle. His car was seized, and he was promptly brought to court.
Police Warn of Potential Disaster
Roads Policing Officer Steve Harding slammed Yankov’s reckless actions: “He was driving over 100mph on an unlit stretch of motorway. If anything appeared in his path, he’d have had no chance to avoid it.”
“With so many unrestrained passengers—especially the young girl up front—the potential for a catastrophic crash was huge.”
