Brutal Acid Attack Lands Man Behind Bars for 20 Years

A vicious assault involving a corrosive substance has landed Sahme Mohammed, 28, in prison for two decades. The Park Avenue man was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Thursday, 13 August. He must serve at least 15 years behind bars, followed by five years on license.

Attack Details: Burned, Bricked and Doused in Acid

The terrifying incident unfolded on 12 February 2018 at 4pm on Burges Road, E6. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after reports that a man had been attacked with a noxious substance. The victim was found with severe burn injuries to his face, arms, and torso.

Eyewitnesses rushed to help, frantically dousing him with water. Initial investigations revealed that three men arrived in a silver Lexus. They first struck the victim with a brick before pouring a corrosive liquid over his face — leaving catastrophic chemical burns.

Medical staff described the wounds as “devastating chemical injury,” requiring multiple skin grafts and eyelid reconstruction to save the victim’s sight.

Perpetrators Caught on CCTV and Forensics

  • Mohammed was arrested on 16 February 2018 along with two other suspects.
  • All three were identified through CCTV footage and forensic evidence.
  • One accomplice, Muhammed Al-Ali, received the same 20-year sentence back in 2019.
  • The third suspect died before his trial in June 2019.

Detective Constable Faye Cook said: “This was a horrific incident which left the victim with serious injuries. This sentencing is the culmination of a lengthy process which has been very trying for him.”

Justice Served After Lengthy Legal Battle

With Mohammed’s 20-year sentence locking him away until at least 2033, the court has sent a clear message: attacks involving dangerous substances will be met with severe punishment. The victim’s harrowing ordeal has finally seen justice served.
