Birmingham Man Jailed for Shocking Rape Spree Across Three Counties

Samuel Hamilton, 23, from Hartley Road, Birmingham, has been slammed with a 21-year prison sentence for a string of sickening sex crimes. The Nottingham Crown Court convicted him of 11 offences, including two rapes, one attempted rape, sexual assault by penetration, and multiple sexual assaults involving four girls under 16.

Horrific Crimes Uncovered After Parent’s Tip-Off

The nightmare began in November 2019 when a concerned parent reported her 16-year-old daughter had been raped after meeting Hamilton through social media. The girl thought she was meeting in a public spot in Somercotes, Derbyshire, but Hamilton drove her to a secluded location where he assaulted and raped her.

This tip-off triggered a major investigation. Forensic evidence linked the Derbyshire attack to a separate crime in Northamptonshire, exposing a broader pattern of abuse across three counties.

Manhunt Ends with Hamilton’s Arrest

  • Hamilton was arrested in Birmingham and flown to Derbyshire for questioning.
  • He was charged with offences spanning Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, and the West Midlands.
  • Victims were unrelated, with attacks occurring between 2018 and 2020.

Investigators Praise Victims’ Bravery Amid Complex Probe

“The effect of the horrendous ordeal each victim suffered will no doubt stay with them forever and I would like to thank them for their immense courage and determination in what was a difficult and complex investigation,” said Detective Constable Paul Butler of Derbyshire Constabulary.

“I would also thank all those officers involved who have shown just how well forces can work together to bring offenders to justice.”

Hamilton will serve 16 years behind bars plus an additional 5 years on licence. He’s placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

DC Butler added: “I hope this conviction reassures victims of sexual offences and encourages them to come forward, knowing they will be supported. If anyone has been affected by this case, I urge them to report it to police.”
