Drug Addict Snatches Bag From 83-Year-Old Passenger in Shocking Attack

Samuel Deans, 35, launched a brutal attack on an 83-year-old woman who was driving him along Cheyne Walk on August 10. The woman, who had known Deans for years and tried to help him battle drug addiction, was left seriously bruised and shaken after he assaulted her and snatched her bag.

Robbery Culprit Gets Nearly Four Years Behind Bars

After a swift Northamptonshire Police investigation, Deans was arrested and charged with robbery. Facing trial, the man of no fixed address pleaded guilty and faced Northampton Crown Court on December 8. He was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison and slapped with a three-year restraining order to stop any contact with the victim.

Victim’s Nightmare Ends as Justice Is Served

“This was a shocking incident for the woman involved, who had been known to Deans for years and had repeatedly tried to help him with his drug addiction issues.” – Detective Constable Stacey Hayes

“She was greatly affected by this incident, feeling vulnerable, hurt, and upset. I’m pleased Deans admitted his guilt, sparing her further stress. She and her family are relieved he can no longer prey on vulnerable people.”

“I very much hope this sentence deters him from reoffending for good.”
