Olamide Soyege, 29, from Dagenham, was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 32 years after being found guilty of murder, robbery, and conspiracy to rob at Winchester Crown Court last November. The grim verdict followed a grueling seven-week trial.
Paige Taylor Gets Seven Years for Robbery and Drugs
Paige Taylor, 24, of Basingstoke, was also convicted of robbery and conspiracy to rob. She picked up a seven-year sentence, which includes time for possession of heroin and crack cocaine.
Third Defendant Awaits Sentencing
Terence Maccabee, 19, from Peckham, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter, robbery, conspiracy to rob, and carrying a bladed weapon. His sentencing is still pending.
Victim Caught in Deadly County Lines Clash
Taylor Williams, 18, from Bromley, was stabbed fatally on August 31, 2019, in Shooters Way, Basingstoke. He was involved in a London-based drug network and confronted by rival gangs trying to rob him and his crew.
After a violent struggle, Taylor fled through a window, only to discover he had been stabbed. Paramedics arrived following a 10:34 pm emergency call, but the young man tragically died in hospital. Maccabee also suffered stab wounds and was hospitalised before his arrest.
“This has been a challenging and complex case but the ultimate outcome is that Taylor Williams has tragically lost his life as a consequence of getting caught up in the dark and violent world of County Lines drugs networks,” said Detective Inspector Lee McClellan.
“Taylor was only at the start of his young life and this tragedy will impact forever on the lives of his friends and family. We can only hope that the reality of Taylor’s death will make other young people think twice about getting involved in this brutal trade.”
DI McClellan praised the investigation team for their relentless work to bring justice.
