Machete Madness: Police Officers Attacked During Firearms Raid
On 20 May 2020, officers stormed a property on The Grove, Idle, as part of a firearms investigation. But the raid turned violent when suspect Corbin Samuels, 28, lunged at cops brandishing a deadly machete.
Two Officers Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
The brutal attack left two officers seriously hurt, needing hospital treatment for wounds to their arms and head. Thankfully, both have made full recoveries and are back on active duty.
Suspect Nabbed and Jailed for 8 Years
Samuels was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of wounding with intent and importing a prohibited firearm. He later appeared at Bradford Crown Court and was slammed with an eight-year prison sentence.
“We welcome the sentence that has been passed down to Samuels today for a despicable attack on serving police officers who were simply conducting their duties,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell.
“The incident was incredibly distressing for all officers involved, but thankfully they have all made a full recovery and received support from Bradford District. Any assault on police is unacceptable, and we will act tough against anyone who commits such vicious violence.”
