A Man Has Been Sentenced To 15 Years Imprisonment After Being Found Guilty Of Raping A Woman

Swindon man Charles Schneider locked up for 15 years for sick sex attacks

Serial sexual predator finally behind bars

Charles Schneider, 59, from Freshbrook, Swindon, was found guilty of a string of horrific sex offences last month at Swindon Crown Court. The jury convicted him of six counts of sexual assault by touching, two of sexual assault by penetration, and two rapes.

Today (March 16), Schneider was slammed with a hefty 15-year prison sentence after subjecting his victim to months of abuse.

Victim speaks out on nightmare ordeal

Sergeant Matthew Gamble revealed the lasting damage Schneider caused. “Schneider’s actions have caused significant stress to his victim, impacting her mental health, private life, and career,” he said. “Throughout this distressing time, she has shown immense dignity and courage.”

The victim gave a powerful statement to the court, describing how the ordeal shattered her trust and changed her daily life forever.

“What Charlie has done to me has massively affected my ability to trust others. I worry about people’s motives and things like jokes and comments get to me a lot more than they ever did.

Simple everyday things are now more stressful. Recently, I got a taxi alone with a male driver and realised how uncomfortable I felt. I am far more wary of physical proximity now.

I’m grateful Charlie has been found guilty. Now, for the first time in years, I can start to feel safe. It feels like the end of a horrific period, though I’m still dealing with what happened. But this verdict helps me begin to heal.”

Justice served, healing starts

Sergeant Gamble hopes the sentencing brings some closure. “I hope today’s verdict lets her start rebuilding her life after this nightmare,” he said.
