Fugitive Murder Suspect Jack Stevens Caught in Spain and Brought Back to Face Justice
A 19-year-old man wanted under a European Arrest Warrant for the brutal murder of Nashon Esbrand has finally been arrested. Jack Stevens was detained in Spain by the National Crime Agency (NCA) working with Spanish cops on Monday, 9 July, on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Service.
Jack Stevens Arrested Over 2017 Islington Murder
The warrant was issued as part of an ongoing investigation into the stabbing death of 27-year-old Nashon Esbrand from Upper Holloway. Nashon was attacked in Islington on 24 August 2017 and sadly died in hospital the following day.
Stevens Extradited and Charged
Stevens was flown back to the UK on Thursday, 30 August. He was swiftly charged with murder at an East London police station and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court the very next day, 31 August.
Remand at Old Bailey and Previous Convictions
Stevens has been remanded in custody pending a court appearance at the Old Bailey on Monday, 3 September.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old man previously found guilty of Nashon’s murder were jailed in June 2018, along with a 16-year-old boy who pleaded guilty. Police say enquiries are ongoing.
