Violent Knife Attack Over Parcel Delivery Shocks Birmingham Neighbourhood
Knife Threat on Doorstep
Mohammed Latif confronted a man on his own doorstep after spotting him accept a parcel meant for someone else. Without warning, Latif – who had no prior links to the man – threatened to stab him.
He lunged forward with a knife, but the victim dodged the attack. Although he escaped serious harm, the blade slashed his jacket in the scuffle.
Quick Police Response
Passersby dragged Latif away before officers arrived quickly at the scene on Old Know Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, on 9 October last year.
The 28-year-old, now living on Washwood Heath Road, was arrested. Despite initially refusing to comment, he later admitted to attempted wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.
Already on Licence
Latif was already out on licence after a previous driving offence conviction. Last Tuesday (29 March), Birmingham Crown Court handed him a hefty sentence of four years and three months behind bars.
Detective Condemns Attack
“This was a needless and violent attack which stemmed from the victim receiving a parcel on his doorstep on behalf of another neighbour,” said DC Andrew Snowdon of force CID. “It’s still not clear what prompted Latif to react in such an aggressive way and it’s fortunate the victim wasn’t seriously injured. Latif had been given a chance to remain at liberty after his previous conviction and his violent behaviour in front of young children is all the more shocking. I’m pleased he’s now behind bars.”
