Midnight Raids Leave Victim Terrified as Man and Gang Launch Two Attacks
Matthew Pallett Leads Brutal Nighttime Attacks
Matthew Pallett, 45, didn’t act alone. He was backed by associates during two separate, terrifying raids on a man’s property. The first strike came around 4am, when Pallett smashed up the front door at a house on 123 – causing serious damage before neighbours dialled 999.
Accomplices Caught and Sentenced
Cairns, McConnell, and Bonson, who partnered with Pallett in the attacks, faced court earlier this year. On 10 February 2023, all three pleaded guilty.
- Connor Cairns, 22, from Claydown Way, Luton, was locked up for two years.
- Ross McConnell, 22, of Bridge Street, also received a two-year jail sentence.
- Ben Bonson, from Beech Hill Avenue, Mansfield, got 15 months suspended for 18 months – plus 120 hours of unpaid work, 20 rehabilitation days, and a six-month alcohol treatment course.
Detective Speaks Out on Dangerous Fire and Attacks
“Pallett instigated both these shocking attacks against someone he was having an ongoing dispute with,” said Detective Sergeant Rich Kinsey of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Striking in the dead of night with backup, he targeted the victim at their most vulnerable.”
“The fire set by Pallett, Cairns and McConnell could have had devastating effects—not just for the victim but for neighbours too. Their actions were completely unacceptable and put lives at serious risk.”
“Thankfully, no one was injured, but this ordeal must have been terrifying. We’re pleased all involved have now faced justice.”
