Birmingham Burglar Busted After High-Speed Chase and CCTV Evidence!
Swali’s Shard End Spree
Peter Swali, from Yardley Green Road in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, was handed a hefty jail sentence after being found guilty of aggravated attempted burglary and attempted burglary at Birmingham Crown Court on 24 April 2023.
The 30-something criminal targeted a 76-year-old’s home in Shard End—not once, but twice.
High-Speed Chase Ends His Run
CCTV caught the attempted break-in on 6 December. Officers soon spotted Swali driving the getaway car just hours later.
He refused to stop, triggering a nail-biting police chase through Birmingham streets. A stinger was deployed and the vehicle was brought to a halt.
Swali’s Lame Excuse Falls Flat
Swali tried to weasel out by jumping into the back seat, claiming he was just a passenger—picked up by a mysterious driver who had vanished.
But police had all the evidence they needed. CCTV from neighbouring homes clearly identified the vehicle, the driver, and even the burglar’s clothing.
Swali’s outfit matched the suspect caught on camera making the break-in attempt.
Justice Served: Eight Years Behind Bars
Despite pleading not guilty, the mountain of evidence left no doubt.
Swali has now started an eight-year and three-month prison sentence, sending a clear message to burglars lurking in Birmingham’s streets.
