Man Jailed After Brutal Attacks and Burglaries in Coventry

Thug Strikes Twice in Two Weeks

Jordan Emery launched a savage attack on a young woman on 31 March as she walked home from work along Butts Lane. The 26-year-old victim was punched in the face and shoved against a wall before Emery snatched her bag and fled the scene.

Only a week later, in the early hours of 7 April, Emery targeted a 61-year-old man on Corporation Street. The pensioner was repeatedly struck at the back of the head, losing a tooth. Emery then rifled through his pockets and stole his phone, wallet, and bank cards.

Caught on Camera and Dragged to Justice

Thanks to sharp-eyed CCTV operators, Emery was tracked across the city centre and arrested less than two hours after the second attack. Footage captured both robberies and confirmed the clothes Emery wore at the time.

Linked to Multiple Burglaries

Emery wasn’t just a mugger. He was linked to three burglaries in Coventry in the early hours of 16 March. He smashed a communal door at student accommodation on Trinity Street, stealing a TV. He also broke into a student’s room pretending to do room checks, though nothing was taken. CCTV also tied him to an attempted burglary at The Wave.

Justice Served

James Emery of Faulkner House, Stoney Stanton Road, faced Warwickshire Justice Centre last Friday (6 May). He pleaded guilty to two robberies, two burglaries, and one attempted burglary. The judge sentenced him to five years behind bars.

“This was a traumatic experience for both victims who were simply just walking home when they were attacked by Emery. I hope they find some comfort in this sentence,” said PC James Rees from Force CID.

“The joint effort with Coventry City Council and CCTV operators was key to catching him. A huge thank you to all involved.”
