Derby Stabbing Tragedy: Man Killed in Brutal Knife Attack
Brandon Froggatt, 21, has been jailed for stabbing Corey Duffy four times after a heated argument in Derby on Sunday, 11 June 2023.
911 Calls Reveal Bloody Scene
Police were alerted just after 3.45pm when a 999 call reported a stabbing on Cooper Street. Minutes later, a second emergency call came from Burdett Lodge probation hostel on Bass Street, where a man had collapsed with stab wounds in the foyer.
Corey Duffy, 30, had been stabbed three times in the chest and once in the thigh. Despite emergency surgery, he tragically died at the hostel from his severe injuries.
Bloody Trail and E-bike Escape
CCTV footage and a trail of blood led officers to the scene. Shockingly, Mr Duffy had staggered back to the hostel seeking help, while Froggatt fled the scene on an e-bike.
Froggatt, then aged 20, fled the country but was arrested at East Midlands Airport after returning to the UK in the early hours of Wednesday, 21 June.
Manslaughter Guilty Plea and Prison Sentence
On Tuesday, 12 March 2024, Froggatt pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Derby Crown Court. He was sentenced on Friday, 15 March 2024, to nine years and two months in prison for the fatal stabbing.
