Sex Beast James Paffey Jailed for 16 Years After Jury Convicts Him on 26 Charges
James Paffey, a 38-year-old man with no fixed address from the Clacton area, has been slammed behind bars for 16 years after a jury found him guilty of 26 sex crimes at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Victims Came Forward, Triggering Swift Arrest
The nightmare began in September 2019 when one brave victim reported Paffey’s vile offences to police. Within three days, officers swooped and arrested him, initially charging him with three offences.
But the horror didn’t stop there. Three more women courageously stepped forward, revealing Paffey had attacked them too. He was ultimately charged with eight counts of rape, nine counts of sexual assault, six counts of assault by penetration, plus offences involving children.
Jury Convicts, Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence
Paffey denied all charges and stood trial starting 26 October. The jury saw through his lies and found him guilty on 12 November. Sentencing followed quickly: 16 years behind bars plus a four-year extended licence period.
He must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before applying for parole and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Victim’s Guardian and Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
“My sadness for all the girls is around how they have lost their chance at a normal childhood because of what he has done,” the guardian of one victim said. “The innocence of childhood has been taken away from them by his actions and can never be recovered. They have not had the opportunity to grow up like regular kids.”
Detective Inspector Lisa Norcott said: “Paffey is a dangerous offender who committed the most horrific of crimes against four young girls. They showed immense bravery telling us what happened and seeing it through to trial. He could have pleaded guilty but instead forced them to relive trauma in court. His attempts to delay justice failed.”
D.I. Norcott also thanked the victims’ families for their unwavering support and paid tribute to officers DC Rachel Evemy and investigator Lisa Berrett-West for their tireless work bringing Paffey to justice.
