Daylight Burglar Nabbed After £3,000 Bike Theft
Stefan Kirk brazenly broke into a house on Southernhay Road, Knighton, Leicester, in broad daylight last September. The homeowners returned to find their bike, worth over £3,000, gone.
Caught on Camera: Repeat Offender Identified
A video doorbell snapped Kirk’s image, which helped police track down the 48-year-old, who has no fixed address. He had just been released on licence for a previous burglary when he struck again.
Two Years and Nine Months Behind Bars
Kirk pleaded guilty to burglary at Leicester Crown Court on 8 March. He was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison.
“Kirk is a prolific offender who has made a career out of burgling people’s homes,” said Detective Constable Steven Kouzaris, the lead investigator.
“Because he was on licence, he’s received a longer sentence this time. We hope this reassures the community that offenders will be brought to justice.”
The police, Crown Prosecution Service, and courts are cracking down hard on repeat offenders like Kirk who flout the law.
