Man Charged After Cop Injured in Hackney Arrest

Officers swooped on a Hackney home on Sunday afternoon, 9 April, investigating a breach of court order. Things quickly turned violent.

Suspect Assaults Officer While Trying to Flee

Ramon Thompson, 31, from Stoke Newington Road, violently attacked a male police constable as he tried to run from the property. The officer was wearing body-worn cameras during the assault. Thompson was detained and arrested on the spot.

Charged with GBH and Criminal Damage

Thompson was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and taken to an east London police station. He now faces serious charges, including causing grievous bodily harm.

Officer Treated for Head Injury

The injured police officer suffered a head wound and was taken to hospital. Thankfully, he has since been discharged.

Court Date Set for May

Thompson is due to appear in custody at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, 9 May.
