Woman Found Dead in Snowdown Woodland – Murder Charge Made
Tragic Discovery in Ackholt Wood
Julia, 53, was found dead with severe head injuries next to Ackholt Wood near Snowdown at around 4pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021. She had been working from home that day before taking her Jack Russell, Toby, for a walk in the Aylesham Road area.
Murder Charge Quickly Follows
Just two weeks later, on Monday 10 May 2021, 21-year-old Callum Wheeler from Aylesham was charged with Julia’s murder. He appeared at Medway Magistrates Court the next day and was remanded in custody ahead of his Maidstone Crown Court hearing on 13 May.
Reconstruction Walk Sheds Light on Attack
On 11 May, detectives staged a dramatic walk-through using an actress dressed in Julia’s clothes. The route Julia took leaving her Snowdown home just after 2pm was retraced. She reportedly walked through bushes and woodland, then around a field off Aylesham Road, before entering Ackholt Wood where the fatal attack is believed to have happened.
Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards urged the public: “I would like to thank everyone that has come forward so far but it’s crucial anyone with information, no matter how small, contacts the police.”
“We hope this reconstruction jogs memories from that day. Our enquiries continue at pace, backed by a strong police presence in Aylesham and Snowdown.”
