Registered Sex Offender Jailed for Targeting Underage Girl Online
Thomas Cannon, 32, is back behind bars after breaking the law again. Already a registered sex offender for trying to meet a 15-year-old girl in 2018, Cannon slipped up shortly after being released early from prison.
Catfished Into a Trap
Thinking he was chatting with a 13-year-old girl online, Cannon engaged in sexual conversations. This led to a joint investigation by Tarian and Dyfed Powys Police.
Swift Arrest and Shocking Discoveries
- Cannon was arrested quickly.
- Officers found him in possession of indecent images.
- He also breached the restrictions imposed on him as a registered offender.
Justice Served at Swansea Crown Court
On November 3, Cannon pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars.
“Cannon posed a serious and dangerous risk to children, and it is our absolute priority to protect and keep children safe in our communities,” said Detective Inspector Mathew Davies.
