Serial Fraudster Nabbed Again Just One Day After Prison Release

Parmpareet Singh’s Crime Spree Continues

Parmpareet Singh, 53, of no fixed address, is back behind bars after committing crimes at a York hotel just a day after his release. Known nationwide for targeting hotels, Singh has racked up a lengthy criminal record across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Northumbria, Oxfordshire, London, Dorset, and Scotland.

Stole Phone and Racked Up £500 Train Tickets

Singh struck at the Park Inn on North Street on Saturday, March 11. After chatting at the hotel bar, he pinched a man’s mobile phone. Using the victim’s banking app, Singh foolishly booked train tickets to London and Manchester worth over £500.

Thankfully, the phone’s owner contacted the bank early Sunday to stop the fraudulent charges.

Quick Arrest After Victim Spotting

Later that day, the victim spotted Singh at the Duke of York pub near York Railway Station. Police were called immediately, and Singh was arrested, charged, and remanded in custody after a “no comment” interview.

Savage timing for Singh—he had only been released from HMP Hull on licence the day before, after serving time for multiple fraud and burglary offences.

Police Slam Singh’s Dishonesty

Police Staff Investigator Robert Oliver said: “It is abundantly clear that Parmpareet Singh is inherently dishonest, unwilling to change his criminal ways and does not care about the impact he has on his victims.

“This could not be more succinctly evidenced than by his latest offences. The theft of the victim’s mobile phone and the subsequent use of a banking app contained therein were committed just one day after his release from prison on licence.

“Singh has shown not the slightest bit of remorse for his actions and he deserves to be back behind bars.”

Sentenced to 14 Weeks for Fraud

At York Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 13, Singh pleaded guilty to one count of theft and two counts of fraud by false representation. He was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison.
