Cop Charged with Sexual Assault After Two Years
PC Joseph Demir Faces Court
PC Joseph Demir, serving with the North West Basic Command Unit, was hit with a sexual assault charge by post on Wednesday, 9 March.
He’s set to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 5 April.
Alleged Incident Dates Back to 2020
The claim dates back to 10 March 2020, when Demir was still a student officer at Hendon Training School. The offence was only reported months later, on 1 July 2020.
Investigation and Next Steps
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards led the probe. PC Demir has since been placed on restricted duties pending the case.
Once the criminal case wraps up, a misconduct hearing will follow to decide his future with the force.
