Five Homes Burgled Across Gillingham and Strood

Between 4 and 17 October 2023, Kent Police tackled a spree of five burglaries targeting homes on London Road, Newington; Lower Rainham Road, Gillingham; Vicarage Road, Strood; and Beechings Way, Gillingham.

Cash, Jewellery, Laptops, and Spirits Stolen – Stolen Car Recovered

Thieves made off with cash, bank cards, jewellery, laptops, and bottles of spirits. A vehicle taken during one break-in was later found parked in Crossley Road, Gillingham. Kent Crime Squad detectives carried out forensic tests and scoured CCTV footage to crack the case.

Suspect Arrested and Charged with Multiple Burglaries

On 18 October, a man was arrested and police recovered suspected stolen items during property searches. Anthony Walker, 38, of Canterbury Street, Gillingham, was charged with five burglaries and taking a vehicle without consent. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court for a hearing on 17 November.
