Dante Foster Jailed for Samurai Sword Street Attack
19-Year-Old Launches Terrifying Samurai Sword Assault
Dante Foster, 19, was arrested last November after a shocking street attack in Ravensthorpe. The victims, a man and woman in their 20s, were delivering a parcel in Willonholt near Foster’s home when he spotted them and launched a verbal tirade.
Ignoring the couple’s silence, Foster shouted, “What are you looking at?” before pulling out a two-foot-long samurai-style sword and threatening, “I can end you both now.”
Victims Injured in Brutal Blade Attack
The man tried to wrestle the sword away, but during the struggle, his leg was slashed. His partner rushed to help but was cut on her hand. The sword slipped to the ground, and the woman threw it into nearby bushes before they all fled.
All three called an ambulance to treat their injuries. Police quickly matched the reports, launched a search, and found the deadly sword.
Foster Admits Charges – Sentenced to Prison
Charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH), actual bodily harm (ABH), and possession of an offensive weapon, Foster admitted all offences at Peterborough Crown Court. He was jailed for nine months in a Young Offender Institution on Tuesday (10 November).
DC Kevin Poole said: “There is absolutely no excuse for carrying such a dangerous weapon in public. Foster is a dangerous individual who terrorised innocent victims going about their daily lives.”
Past Violence Adds to Foster’s Jail Time
Foster was also handed a 12-month sentence for his role in a violent disorder from April 2019. That attack left a man with a six-inch knife slash to the arm in Bretton.
His accomplices from that incident – Jordan Roberts, Ulili Ramalho, and Umberto Femminilo – were sentenced to a combined 23-and-a-half years in prison.
Police Continue Knife Crime Crackdown
The sentencing comes amid a national week-long knife crime operation. Police carried out knife sweeps, clamped down on retailers selling knives to youths, and ran virtual school sessions warning about knife dangers.
