Teen Chased Moped Rider to Death in High-Speed Manchester Pursuit

A terrifying moped chase through north Manchester ended in tragedy when 17-year-old Shikeo Bell slammed into Carl Dawson, 43, killing him instantly.

CCTV footage revealed Bell’s stolen Seat Leon tailgating Carl at just three metres on Hillier Street, Harpurhey. The pursuit ended when Bell’s car struck Carl’s back wheel, throwing him off and causing a fatal head injury.

Guilty Plea and Heavy Sentence

Forensic evidence, including paint traces from Carl’s bike found inside the stolen car, identified Bell as the driver. At Manchester Crown Court today (10/5/2023), Bell pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

He was handed a prison sentence of five years and eight months and banned from driving for eight years, with an additional two years on an extended licence.

Additional Charges Land Bell More Jail Time

Bell also admitted to multiple robberies, possession of a bladed weapon, and fraud, earning himself an extra 18 months behind bars.
