Early Morning Cash Machine Raid Ends in Arrest
A daring raid on a cash machine in Alfold ended with one crook caught red-handed just after dawn on Saturday, 4 December.
Thief Caught Trying to Flee
Police rushed to the Horsham Road petrol station at around 4:30am after reports of an attack. They found 28-year-old Tommy Stevenson, from Epsom, injured behind a fence at the far edge of the forecourt. He had hurt his leg trying to make a break for it.
When officers arrived, Stevenson surprisingly shouted out for help.
Disguise and Drilling Gear Give Him Away
Stevenson was decked out in a dark cap marked ‘security’, gloves, and carried a walkie-talkie. His backpack held drilling equipment used during the theft.
Cops matched him from CCTV footage where his distinctive hat made him easy to spot.
£19,200 Stolen; Hunt for Accomplices Continues
