Elderly Woman Bound for Days in Horrific Home Invasion
Billy Williams, 29, horrified a quiet Kent community by tying up an elderly woman so tightly she was stuck fast to a chair for over two days. The victim was only found after worried relatives dialled police when they couldn’t reach her.
Brutal Attack Sparks Police Hunt
The nightmare began on Sunday, 4 April 2021, near Maidstone. Williams, unknown to the victim, claimed he’d lost a bottle from his bike and asked for water. When she turned her back, he leapt over her gate, shoved a chisel to her neck, and gagged her.
He terrorised her, demanding cash and valuables. Holding a knife to her face and stomach, Williams threatened to kill her and sexually assaulted her. He then ransacked the property, stealing a laptop, personal items, and even a suit protector case.
Afterwards, Williams bound her wrists, ankles, and neck with tape and wiring, gagged her mouth, and doused her in alcohol from bottles inside the home. Then, he vanished.
Rescue and Justice
On Tuesday, 6 April, Kent Police were alerted after family members reported the victim missing. Officers found the front door ajar and discovered the terrified woman, dehydrated and bruised, still tied up with her chair toppled over.
Police launched an intense investigation involving the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. A witness spotted Williams nearby that day and identified him at an ID parade. Forensics matched his DNA to a sherry bottle used to pour alcohol over the victim. CCTV showed Williams cycling away with the stolen suit protector case packed with bulky goods.
Conviction and Life Sentence for Monster
Williams was jailed after a Maidstone Crown Court trial found him guilty of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, and sexual assault. He also tried a desperate jailbreak during trial but was quickly tackled and restrained by officers.
He later admitted assaulting emergency workers and another inmate while in custody. On Friday 8 April 2022, Southwark Crown Court handed down a life sentence with a minimum 18-year term behind bars.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber said: “Williams targeted a vulnerable woman, subjecting her to a terrifying ordeal. He left her bound, knowing she could have died without help. He’s extremely dangerous and shows no remorse. This sentence ensures he stays behind bars for a significant time.”
