Brutal Robber Terrorises Nottingham Women in Violent Spree
Dwaine McDonald unleashed a terrifying wave of attacks on five women and tried to prey on another between February 13 and 16 this year. The 34-year-old’s violent rampage left victims beaten, robbed, and traumatised across Nottingham’s streets.
Shocking Attacks Across Nottingham
On February 14, McDonald targeted a 60-year-old woman walking to a bus stop. He demanded her phone and a pound, then followed her across the street before punching her in the face — twice. He fled empty-handed when a car arrived.
Later that morning, McDonald struck again near the Arboretum. He hit a 22-year-old woman over the head with a brick and punched her as she walked along Forest Road East. After stealing her handbag, he fled the scene.
He also punched a 20-year-old woman in Radford and ripped her bag from her shoulder during an early February 13 attack.
Multiple Robbery Attempts and Assaults
- On February 14, after two women got off a tram in the Arboretum, McDonald followed them home. He tried to snatch one woman’s bag and punched the other before making a swift escape.
- The next day in Old Basford, McDonald demanded items from a 24-year-old at a bus stop and tried to steal her phone. He punched her before running off.
- In New Basford, he punched a 23-year-old woman after she exited a tram and tried to steal her phone. She screamed for help, causing him to flee.
Justice Served: Violent Offender Locked Up
McDonald, caught on February 16, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, four counts of attempted robbery, and an overnight house burglary in Old Basford. Police recovered stolen items from his home.
On August 24, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to an indefinite hospital order, removing a dangerous criminal from the streets.
Detective Sergeant Franco Guddemi said: “I hope this sentencing provides closure for McDonald’s victims after their terrifying ordeals. This was a particularly violent string of robberies with serious consequences for all involved.”
