Gang Member Jailed After Lambeth Drug Raid Nets £1,000 Worth of Class A Stuff
Michael Richards Nabbed with Heroin, Crack & Cannabis
Michael Richards, 22, a known gang member, was busted in a police raid on his Lambeth home in Saxby Road, SW2, back in November 2021. Officers found him inside with multiple wraps of class A drugs and a fat amount of cash.
Lab tests later revealed heroin, crack cocaine, and cannabis valued at around £1,000.
Three Drug Charges Lead to Jail Sentence
Richards was hit with three serious charges:
- Possession with intent to supply class A drugs – cocaine
- Possession with intent to supply class A drugs – heroin
- Possession of a class B drug – cannabis
On Thursday, 6 January, he faced the Inner London Crown Court and was slapped with a three-year jail term.
Police Crackdown Slashes Knife Crime and Homicides
Inspector Dan Thompson, head of VCTF Proactive Syndicate 11 in Sutton, said: “The distribution of drugs fuels violence and misery in local communities.
“This case shows how focused police efforts can take down those driving violence through drug supply.”
Violence stats from January to November 2021 show progress:
- Homicides fell by 7% (9 fewer victims)
- Knife crime decreased by 32% (4,613 fewer offences)
- Knife crime with injury down 21% (784 fewer victims)
Inspector Thompson added: “We’re not resting easy. Our fight against violent crime is relentless. We’ll keep using every tool to protect our communities.”
