Two Young Boys Targeted in Shocking Attacks
Karl Kennett, 28, from Canterbury, preyed on primary school boys in a vile sex attack spree. The first abuse happened over six years ago, with a second boy assaulted at another location in 2020. The victims, both around the same age, bravely came forward, leading to their attacker’s arrest.
Kent Police Crack Down After Victims Speak Out
Following the nerve-wracking reports, Kent Police moved swiftly. Kennett was taken into custody just a week after the latest offence was reported in April 2020. The investigation uncovered multiple offences spanning years, painting a grim picture of his predatory behaviour.
Canterbury Crown Court Delivers Justice
After a tense trial, Kennett was convicted on two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of sexual assault against a child. On August 9, 2022, the judge sentenced him to seven years behind bars, plus three years on probation after release.
Additionally, a 12-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order was slapped on Kennett to prevent any future offending.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
I would like to praise the bravery of these two young victims, and their families, for reporting these offences and supporting the prosecution,” said Detective Constable Rebecca Keeler of Kent Police.
“Kennett’s denial of wrongdoing only caused more pain and forced us into a trial. Thankfully, the strong evidence secured guilty verdicts and put this dangerous man behind bars for a lengthy time.”
