Wandsworth House Party Crushed by Police in Lockdown Bust
Just before 11:40pm on Thursday, February 11, cops swooped on a Wandsworth home after reports of a raucous house party.
When officers stepped inside, they found 30 to 40 partygoers crammed in, flagrantly ignoring national Covid lockdown rules.
Two Arrested, Fines Handed Out
Two arrests followed the raid: a woman hit with a breach of Covid regulations charge, and a man arrested for an unrelated offence.
Other guests were slapped with Fixed Penalty Notices on the spot. The party was shut down and the house locked up tight.
Police Slam Selfish Partygoers Endangering Lives
Inspector Matt Ebbs, South West Command Unit: “It is saddening to have to deal with an incident like this where large numbers of people have illegally gathered in breach of Covid regulations during a national lockdown.
“At a time when so many members of the public are making considerable sacrifices and abiding by the rules to keep others safe, these individuals acted selfishly and risked spreading the virus which has already claimed countless lives across our city.
“These are challenging times but we must all play our part, and I urge everyone to follow the rules to protect themselves and their community.”
Penalty System Explained
The Met uses a digital system to issue reports for potential Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs). These reports undergo strict checks centrally to verify the evidence and details.
Then, reports go to ACRO (Criminal Records Office), which reviews each case before sending FPNs by post. Repeat offenders face heftier fines.
Those who ignore or refuse to pay risk being hauled into court, where fines can be increased and court costs tacked on.
