Teen Busted Riding Stolen Bike on Pavement in Gillingham
A teenager was caught red-handed riding a stolen motorbike along pavements near Aylesford Crescent, Gillingham. Police arrested him at 12.12pm on Wednesday, 13 April 2022.
Quick Foot Chase Ends in Arrest
After spotting the youth on the bike, officers gave chase when he tried to flee on foot. The lad was caught and detained shortly after. A screwdriver was also seized at the scene.
Charged with Multiple Offences
The boy now faces several charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, taking a vehicle without consent, going equipped to steal, and driving without a licence. He’s been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 20 May.
Motorbike Theft Soars in Medway
- Since 1 January, over 100 motorbikes and mopeds have been reported stolen across Medway.
- About 50 of these stolen vehicles have been recovered.
- Police have arrested 19 suspects aged 14 to 21, all currently bailed pending further investigation.
