Cop Targeted by Moped Madness in Isleworth – Police Launch Hunt
A police officer was hurt after a motorbike was deliberately driven at him in a brazen attack in Isleworth. Detectives are now scrambling for witnesses and CCTV to crack the case.
Dramatic Dash at Gillette Corner
It all kicked off on Tuesday, 17 April at 2.48pm, when cops were called to Syon Park, Isleworth, over two men on a suspicious moped snooping around parked cars.
Officers tracked down the pair near Gillette Corner, Hounslow. As they approached, the rider suddenly gunned the engine, crashing straight into one of the officers.
The 42-year-old cop was dragged about five metres before being thrown off, hitting his head on the ground. The bike sped off leaving chaos behind.
Officer Injured but Out of Danger
Emergency services rushed the officer to a West London hospital. Thankfully, his injuries weren’t life-threatening. He has since been discharged and is resting at home.
Suspect Nabbed, Police Plead for Witnesses
Later that day, police arrested a 28-year-old man at an address in Feltham on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). They recovered the motorbike believed to be a grey Yamaha T500.
The suspect was taken to a West London police station but released under investigation. Hounslow CID detectives are leading the enquiry.
“The rider deliberately drove at the officers. One of them was lucky not to be seriously injured or killed,” said Detective Inspector Thomas Bowen.
“This was a shocking incident, likely witnessed by the public. The bike was a grey Yamaha T500. The rider wore a black crash helmet, and the passenger a white one. We’re urging anyone who saw the bike acting suspiciously, saw the collision, or saw it making off to come forward.”
“Dash-cam footage would be especially valuable in bringing these people to justice.”
