Hull Drug Gang Busted: £500k Worth of Class A Drugs Seized
A ruthless organised crime group, led by Paul Cahalin (39) from Falkland Road, Hull, has been jailed for massive drug dealing. The court found the gang sold huge quantities of Class A drugs between May 2018 and January 2019.
£500,000 in Drugs and £25,000 Cash Confiscated
Humberside Police’s Specialist Serious and Organised Crime Unit seized around four kilos of heroin, 360 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of crack cocaine, and 24 kilos of amphetamines from the gang. The street value? A staggering £500,000. Officers also recovered roughly £25,000 in cash during the bust.
The gang’s profits over the investigation period are believed to run into several million pounds.
Kingpin Cahalin and His Crew Get Locked Up
- Paul Cahalin – 18 years in prison for leading the operation.
- Innocenzo Bonaccorso (28, Hull) – 13½ years for managing drug cutting and wholesale supplies.
- Steven Abbott (52, Hull) – 8 years for storage and distribution roles.
- Max Sands (25, Winteringham) – 4 years for transporting drugs from the north-west to Hull.
- William Burrows (52, Hessle) – 7 years for drug dealing and possession.
- Klaudian Liberko (25, Hull) – 8-month suspended sentence for managing a drug storage safe house.
Cahalin ran the show, relying on Bonaccorso and Abbott to move and stash the goods. Abbott and Sands were caught transporting drugs from Liverpool and Manchester back to Hull. The gang used high-tech comms to source wholesale drugs, linking them to wider UK crime networks.
Police Praise “Excellent” Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Pottage, who led the probe, said:
“The scale of this organised crime group was significant. Their methods and volumes posed a real risk to the public.”
DCI Pottage revealed the investigation involved deep digital forensic work, including cracking encrypted phones, CCTV analysis, and covert surveillance.
He added:
“Jailing these criminals will hit the drug trade in Hull hard, but we won’t stop. Our communities can trust we’ll keep cracking down on dangerous organised crime.”
The judge also lauded the “excellent and well-planned policing operation” that brought the gang down.
Community Support Crucial to Success
DCI Pottage thanked locals for their tip-offs but urged patience:
“Even if you don’t see immediate action, your information helps build bigger cases. Keep speaking up – it saves lives.”
