Burglar Caught on CCTV Gets Two Years for Hull Break-In
Gary Way, 39, a homeless man, was sentenced to two years in jail for a sneak burglary in Hull. On 18 June 2022, he broke into a home on Rolston Way and stole electronic gadgets, gaming kit, and cash.
Midnight Break-In Shakes Victim
Way forced entry through a patio door while the owner slept upstairs. When dawn came, the victim spotted the smashed door and missing valuables. CCTV footage showed Way in the act, brazenly raiding the property.
Fast Police Action Nets Burglar
Police quickly released the suspect’s image to the public. Spotting him was easy, leading to a swift arrest and charge for burglary.
“Burglary is an extremely intrusive crime, leaving victims feeling fearful in their own homes,” said Detective Sergeant Downs after sentencing.
“Thanks to CCTV evidence, we secured his arrest and charge. We hope two years behind bars will make Gary Way think twice about his actions. This sentence also reassures the victim that Way can’t strike again while locked up.”
