Car Criminal Caught: £300k Theft Spree Ends Behind Bars
A brazen burglar nicknamed the “Snapchat Snatcher” has been jailed for nicking cars worth over £300,000 and filming his own daring raids. Liam Moore, just 20, terrorised Birmingham and Solihull with a string of smash-and-grab raids before police finally had enough.
Police Crack Down on High-Value Crime Spree
West Midlands Police swooped in October 2023 after a relentless crime streak. Officers linked Moore to 13 home break-ins and 14 car thefts between August 13 and October 7, using damning evidence from his phone.
- Moore flaunted his crimes, filming himself torching and snapping locks.
- He uploaded videos to Snapchat showing him melting door locks and stealing vehicles.
- He even researched car models on his phone before each heist, highlighting his cold-blooded planning.
From Denial to Jail Time
Moore initially tried to wriggle out of trouble by denying the charges. But on day two of his trial at Birmingham Crown Court, he caved and pleaded guilty, landing himself a hefty nine-year stretch behind bars.
“This investigation shows what modern policing can achieve,” a detective said. “Digital evidence from Moore’s own devices was key in bringing him to justice and keeping Birmingham and Solihull streets safer.”
