Charlie Sniffs Out Drugs: Dealer Jailed After Heroin and Crack Found in Dover Car
A drug dealer caught red-handed with heroin and crack cocaine hidden in his car’s air vents has been locked up for nearly eight years. The bust, thanks to an alert police dog, sends a clear message to dealers heading to Kent: smuggle drugs here, and you’ll end up behind bars.
Dogs Do the Detecting: Charlie’s Sniff Leads to Arrest
In September 2019, Kent Police’s Operation Raptor Team stopped a Vauxhall Insignia driven by 23-year-old Jaisha Williams in Dover. Officers suspected the vehicle was carrying Class A drugs. Police Dog Charlie, a sharp 16-month-old Cocker Spaniel, confirmed their hunch, sniffing out 60 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine hidden inside an air vent.
Seven Years and Ten Months for County Line Dealer
Williams, from Marden Crescent, Croydon, pleaded guilty to possession and supply of heroin and crack cocaine, alongside possession of criminal property. Alongside the drugs, officers seized £800 cash from Williams, which he claimed was for buying a van.
His phone revealed messages confirming he was running a county line, supplying drugs in Dover. On Wednesday 20 November, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced Williams to seven years and ten months in prison.
Police Warn: Dealers Beware, Kent Is Watching
“Despite being fully aware of the devastating impact drug abuse can have on individuals, their family and the wider community, Williams chose to make money out of people struggling with drug problems,” said PC Jake Griffiths, Kent Police’s lead investigator.
“We have no tolerance for such activity in Kent and anyone who travels to our county with the intention of supplying Class A drugs should be aware that we have resources across the county who specialise in bringing them to justice.”
The seized drugs had a street value of up to £1,200. This major crackdown shows Kent’s commitment to shutting down organised drug crime.
