Clapham Alkali Attack Suspect’s Dark Past Revealed
New explosive details have surfaced about Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, the prime suspect behind the shocking Clapham alkali attack that left a woman and her two daughters badly injured. As police step up the manhunt, a close friend has dropped a bombshell: Ezedi previously exposed himself to a woman at a bus stop, revealing a troubling history of criminal behaviour.
£20,000 Reward Offered as Police Hunt Intensifies
Authorities have been desperately searching for 35-year-old Ezedi, an Afghan national, ever since the corrosive liquid attack rocked South London last Wednesday. Police have now dangled a hefty £20,000 reward for anyone handing information leading to his capture.
Friend Reveals Shocking Past Crimes
The revelations come from a former colleague who worked with Ezedi at a takeaway in Tyneside. The friend said, “It was so out of character; we were stunned to learn what he’d done. One was sexual assault, and afterwards, he exposed himself to a woman waiting at a bus stop.”
Court records reveal Ezedi was accused of grabbing a woman’s bottom without consent. Back in January 2018 at Newcastle Crown Court, he dodged jail by pleading guilty to sexual assault and exposure charges. He was handed a suspended sentence, placed on the sex offender register for 10 years, and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Backstory: Immigration, Conversion & Family Tragedy
Ezedi had faced two rejected asylum claims before finally being granted leave to remain in the UK. In his application, he claimed to have converted to Christianity — gaining support from local Catholic and Baptist churches. But his friend scoffed at the conversion, calling it “a joke,” noting he comes from a strict Muslim family.
The friend went on, “He’s very intelligent. He speaks excellent English and even got onto a college course in Newcastle to improve it — that was important to him.”
Tragedy also shadows Ezedi’s past. He vowed revenge after his sister was shot dead during an armed robbery in Afghanistan. The friend explained Ezedi was devastated by her death and committed to sending money back to his family overseas.
Despite his grief and anger, the friend expressed shock over the Clapham attack accusations, stressing Ezedi had never shown any violent tendencies before. The motive behind the acid assault remains unclear, and police continue to puzzle over any links to his sister’s murder back home.
Ezedi remains on the run. Police urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.
