Lucy Letby Guilty of Attempted Baby Murder

Notorious child killer Lucy Letby, 34, has been found guilty of attempting to murder another baby, adding to her shocking tally of crimes. She was previously convicted of murdering seven infants and trying to kill six more between June 2015 and June 2016.

New Trial Ordered Over Baby Known as Child K

A jury could not reach a verdict on a further allegation involving a baby referred to as Child K, leading to a retrial being ordered. Baby K, born prematurely in February 2016, was targeted by Letby while she worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The court heard that a doctor caught Letby almost red-handed while the baby was in distress. Letby had to rush to resuscitate the infant, who was later transferred to another hospital but tragically died three days later.

Letby’s Chilling Actions Exposed

Senior Crown Prosecutor Nicola Wyn Williams said: “Our case included direct evidence from a doctor who walked into the nursery to find a very premature baby desaturating with Letby standing by, taking no action to help or to raise the alarm. She had deliberately dislodged the breathing tube in an attempt to kill her.”

“Letby dislodged the tube two more times over the next few hours to cover her tracks and make it seem accidental. These were the actions of a cold-blooded, calculated killer.”

“Staff at the unit had to think the unthinkable – that one of their own was deliberately harming and killing babies in their care.”

“The grief that the family of Baby K have felt is unimaginable. Our thoughts remain with them and all those affected by this case.”

Letby Denies All Charges

Despite overwhelming evidence, Lucy Letby continues to deny killing the children.
