Romford Cyclist Dies After Early Morning Hit-and-Run

Tragedy struck at 3.19am on Friday, 24 July, when a car smashed into a cyclist at the junction of Romford Road and Crosby Road, E7.

The cyclist, 31-year-old Jay Kristiansen from Romford, was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died the next day, Saturday 25 July.

Driver Flees Scene – Man Arrested

The motorist involved did not stop. Police launched a Serious Collision Investigation and on Saturday arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of failing to stop and causing death by dangerous driving.

The suspect has been released on bail and must return in late August.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage

Officers continue to appeal for anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam footage to come forward. Witnesses should call Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage on 020 8597 4874, quoting reference 961/24Jul.
